It sparked and turned the entire kitchen a wonderful shade of blue until we recovered from shock long enough to stop the microwave. Along the same lines, there was a fad in my middle school of microwaving grab-bags of chips and turning them into wrinkly little shrinky dink-type things. I painted the walls lime green, then coated the cabinets with chalkboard paint so I could write all over them with colorful chalk. It's been a lot of fun.
