GOOD TO KNOW. I HAD BEEN TOLD EARLIER THIS WEEK THERE WAS A PLACE IN RALEIGH WHERE THE PUBLIC COULD BUY SURPLUS. I WAS AT THE NCDMV & COMMENTED ABOUT THE ALL WOOD CHAIRS IN THE WAITING ROOM. A LADY THERE SAID THERE WAS A PLACE IN RALEIGH WHERE THEY COULD BE PURCHASED FOR $15 OR SO, BUT SHE HAD TO LEAVE & I DIDN'T GET TO TALK TO HER ANYMORE. TONIGHT I SEE SOMEONE IS SELLING (WHAT APPEARS TO BE THESE CHAIRS) FOR $50. I GUESS HE WON THE BID ON A LOT. I'M ONLY INTERESTED FOR MY OWN PERSONAL USE. THANKS FOR THE INFO.

@Zach Thanks for the tip on the NC State surplus sale. Too bad it's on Fridays though, makes it hard to get to for those of us with day jobs.

Also NC State University hosts a surplus sale every Friday starting at 8am. It's located off of Blue Ridge, if you go north past the theater you'll see a sign to turn into an industrial park. Follow the signs and you'll find it.

In the past I've purchased a number of CRT monitors, a filing cabinet (which I'm still using), an aerobics step, computer cables, a desk, and probably more. A friend I went with purchased about 2000' of CAT 6 cable for under $10.

When you go, you have to check-in at the window inside the shop and show your ID. But it's free to browse around.

Jason,

Its 'the state' and its a Southeast state surplus store, that means that generally 48 other states would have thrown the chair out or sent it to goodwill 15 years prior.

That's amazing. I had no idea Raleigh had a place like this. As a poor college student in need of a cheap office chair I think I'm gonna find my way over there.
