What restaurant has the best biscuits in the Triangle?
Trips to Biscuitville have become a staple in my Sunday brunch routine. I’m hardly a biscuit connoisseur, but I’ve got to admit that the North Carolina biscuit chain has got it going on. They’ve got Texas Pete, awesome sausage patties, strong coffee, and — of course — tasty biscuits. And the Honey Buns deserve their own fan page on facebook. Breakfast for two costs about $10.
On Sundays, I take my copy of the News & Observer with me and sprawl out in a booth with my biscuits and boyfriend. Sometimes we’ll go on Saturdays too. Another huge Biscuitville brunch perk is there’s rarely a wait. I get impatient waiting for a table for Sunday brunch (unless you give me coffee like Elmo’s does).
But I know there are better biscuits out there. Somewhere in the Triangle, there’s a fluffy, golden biscuit that’s waiting to woo me. Help me find that place.
Tell me what restaurants you think have incredible biscuits (or biscuits not worth wasting my time on). I’ve had the biscuits at Elmo’s and Flying Biscuit, and I like them both. But certainly there are other locally-owned places that I’ve got to try.
I’m also a big Biscuitville fan.
My grandmother went to school with the gentleman that started Biscuitville and it was well known across “town” that he chose the biscuit recipe over land when they went through the will. It’s definitely a NC family business that hasn’t changed what works over the years.
This is my favorite for biscuits and breakfast:

I’ve been liking the Flying Biscuit at Cameron Village lately. Great food. The biscuits are a little sweet (due to the sugar on top), but very flaky and tasty.
Morning biscuits: Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen on Franklin St., near Estes Drive. (It does breakfast and lunch only, and is only a drive-through place iirc).
Evening/late night biscuits: Time-Out in Chapel Hill (University Square)–stays open ’round the clock. The cinnamon biscuit there is so good.
Bojangles ought to get a shout-out too. They aren’t too bad actually.
I’ve never been there, is it really good?
But I love biscuits, willing to go and try it!
You know where I stand on this. Biscuitville FTW!
I’m with DBP — Sunrise is awesome. I still occasionally will drive to Chapel Hill on Sunday mornings just to get a cinnamon bun/roll from them. I’ll also fall in with the Bojangles crowd.

Brandy,
Yes, it’s really THAT good. I don’t like grits, but I know you do. People love the grits there, but I can’t speak to them. I can say that their gravy is fantastic. Very creamy! And the honey buns are the bomb! Also, they have warm syrup in a huge container that you can poor in little plastic cups. I always get a cup of the syrup and dip my hashbrown in it. It’s so delicious. You would love it. The only catch is it closes at 2 p.m., so it might be hard for you to make it there with your schedule.
Kellie,
Bring Cheerwine to Biscuitville! OMG my mouth just watered.
Also, if you do, I will have my ashes scattered over a Biscuitville when I die!

Cheerwine is my FAVORITE drink of all time. It’s an NC claim to fame. It fits us brand-wise perfectly. The rep was actually here with our purchasing guru just last week. I am looking at a retro-style BOTTLED cheerwine on my desk. How’s that for mouth watering…lol. We have looked at it before, but it didn’t make it through the scrutiny process. We are going to look at it again! I will let you know what happens. I would love to see us put it in. I’m a big fan….got your back on this one! Not to mention how can I let you down after the ashes comment??
Head downtown Raleigh and try the tried & true biscuits of Mema’s Biscuits, aka The Biscuit Station. Not only is it the best buscuit, its locally owned and operated.

Next time you’re in Charlotte, come by my house. I’ll make you the best biscuits you’ve ever had. They’re the passed down, unwritten recipe from my grandmother. I lived in Durham for 12 years, so I still consider them a product of the Triangle!
