Two hours on the Boylan Street Bridge proves I’m not alone
3 Aug

When I drive across the Boylan Street Bridge, I brake a little so I can take in the downtown Raleigh skyline. The bridge offers one of the best views of the capital city’s growing skyline, and I never get tired of it.
Last night, the BF and I packed our video camera and a tripod and headed to the bridge. We plopped ourselves down near the center and recorded the sunset for nearly two hours to use for an upcoming project.

While sitting on the bridge, several cars slowed down to take in the view. At least two drivers stopped on the bridge (one to snap a photo with his cell phone, another to let a woman in the back seat take some photos). I was glad to see that I’m not the only one who brakes for the view.
What are your favorite spots to view the Raleigh or Durham skyline? Feel free to share some of your secrets.

I can certainly see why you would love to look at this skyline, just beautiful!
I’m so glad I stumbled on this post: my hip hop band, The Beast, is literally right now finishing mixing it’s first album at Osceola Studios, which is locaed RIGHT on the bridge. We’ve been here for two weeks, and this is my first time in Boylan Heights. It’s magical. Every time the engineer takes a cigarette break I walk out on the bridge, watch the trains, take it all in. I think I’ll go out right now and look at the moon. Good find!
I absolutely agree! When we moved here from the flat, sparse farmland of Ohio, I was absolutely taken away by the downtown skyline. It is beautiful, sophisticated, yet inviting all at once. I, too, brake a little to take it in if I am driving. Of course a guilty pleasure is asking my husband to drive so I can steal a few more glances than I normally could if I were behind the wheel! I feel very privileged to live in such a beautiful place! : )
